BAKING IT: Christmas Cookies

By: Diemmy

Hello everyone! It’s not much a secret to my family and friends that I LOVE TO BAKE! Sadly enough, I don’t have much time to splurge over this hobby of mine but as an annual tradition, I love to bake Christmas Cookies for my family and friends as gifts. This year I decided to turn it up a notch and bake cookies from scratch rather than from a box. With this mission, I spent 3 hours baking two flavours of cookies: Red Velvet and White Chocolate & Macadamia.

After much frustration, dedication and injuries… (Yes, I burnt my thumb), I was able to see the end product. I thought it would be nice to share it with you all and hopefully this will be useful as a gift idea.

Also I hope you all have a safe holiday and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Much love,
Diemmy

I could show you Incredible Things

By: Diemmy

Yes… here comes another Taylor Swift related post. After finishing up with my purchases at Sephora on the opening day, we visited Myers to collect some freebies and on the way, a worker just had to be there handing out samples of Taylor’s new perfume Incredible Things. Not only did the perfume smell sweet and fresh, but there was a promotion of the product having a 25% off and not to mention… Swift’s Blank Space was playing in the background. It was the perfect fate combination and I just couldn’t say no… despite punching a hole in the wallet already at Sephora.

So there I was… in a stiff quick decision making situation. Michelle just left me stranded and told me “You’re on your own.” Well – gee thanks Michelle. Without hesitating, I instantly said yes and went to the counter to pay for the product without thinking twice.

The Incredible Things trio perfume package consists of a scented body lotion, a scented body gel and also the perfume itself. I also scored a promotional gift, which was a mini roll on stick.

I must say I am very happy with this spontaneous purchase and despite being close to broke… I just couldn’t say no. There are many things I can say no to but Taylor Swift is definitely not one of them. Also, I am very happy with the product itself and must say that this is my favourite fragrance from all her perfumes. Fresh, vibrant and not too heavy.

Do you have a perfume that you are hooked on? Let me know as I would love to check it out!

Much love,
Diemmy.

Tarte Holiday Limited Edition Sets

By: Michelle
The first Sephora store opened in Sydney a couple of days ago and of course, Diemmy and I went to the store. I had one goal (realistically I had a whole list), and that was to purchase the limited edition sets from Tarte. And the first thing I did when I ran into the store was grab these two limited edition sets; Bon Voyage Collector’s Set & Travel Bag ($78AUD) and Pin Up Girl Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush Palette ($58AUD).

I am very excited to try out the products in these sets. If you're looking for something new to add to your makeup collection, or looking for a good Christmas gift, you keep these sets in mind! Such good value for what you get!

Diemmy and I will be making detailed posts and reviews on the sets within the next few posts, so watch out for those!

Much Love,
Michelle.

Review: Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream

By: Diemmy

During the trip to Korea, Etude House had a 30% sale storewide and of course… I went around the store picking up every item I possibly could. One product that I am extremely happy that I bought was the Precious Mineral BB Cream in Cotton Fit Shade 21.

I may or may not be a bias make up user since once I find a product I tend to stick with it for a long time. But I have gone through a few BB creams and I must say this one is my all time favourite BB cream.

The packaging of the BB cream is very simple and it is essentially just the same as any other cream tube package. However, compared to most Western brands, the Precious Mineral comes with a pump making it easier for application. The pump makes it easy to access the product however; a drawback is that one full pump may be too much product.

Now onto the product itself!

Despite the shade being slightly lighter than my skin tone, when applied and blended out with a beauty blender, it really makes the shade merge in with my skin tone, giving a complete medium coverage finish.

Another plus of this product is that it has SPF 30 PA++, making it easier for those who are lazy to apply an extra sunscreen product. Not only that, the product claims to be "whitening" and as a fact, after using the product, it is evident that the BB cream does it job as I can see my face being brighter with the product on.

The consistency of the BB cream feels very light and velvety, making it easy to blend out and it covers my blemishes, pores and redness very effectively. This product is something I continue to return to on a daily basis. However, another drawback is that I find prior moisturiser or primer is needed or else the dryness of the skin will be exposed.

Overall, I am very happy with this BB cream and have been continuously using it since purchase. I highly recommend this product and it is something that I would easily return in without a doubt.

My verdict is a 4/5.

E.L.F's Blending Eye Brush

By: Michelle

I admit, I tend to be lazy when it comes to washing my make-up brushes. As a result, I often struggle to find clean eyeshadow brushes. Recently I have purchased E.L.F's Blending Eye Brush. This is the first time I've ever used a brush, or anything from E.L.F. I've always been curious about this brush as I've seen a lot of youtubers use it. Finally, I got my hands on it, and I'm quite happy that I did!

I've used the brush to apply eyeshadow on my crease, and to blend out my eyeshadow. It does it's job, and does not irritate my eyes. I'm actually surprised by how soft the bristles are, as I was expecting it to be made of lower quality. In fact, I've returned and purchased another one for a back-up.

The brush was only $3 from K-mart, however if you live in the U.S. I believe it is only $1 - which is such a good deal. I think purchasing this E.L.F eyeshadow brush is a good idea if you're looking for a cheap alternative to add to your collection. Give it a try, it won't disappoint or put a big hole in your wallet.

Much love,
Michelle.

Swizzling it Up - Taylor's 1989

By: Diemmy

Some of you may or may not know but I am a huge fan of Taylor Swift! I love her music, her style, her attitude and basically just everything about her. She’s the record that I wake up to, cry to and dance to when things are down. Recently, she released a new album 1989 and I just had to share to you my thoughts about it. With the release being on the 27th of October in America, this meant that I had to wait till the 28th to get my hands on it here in Australia. On the way to Uni I stopped at a CD store. However, I was super sad as I was unable to listen to it straight away since I had no CD player. And when I did… It was everything I expected, and even more.

I must say, this album is a really big shift from all her previous albums, but it’s definitely something new for the better. That being said, I still love all of her other albums just as equally as this one. Not only was the content of the album on point but… –omg, I’m just going to shake it- the packaging was just WOW! I got the deluxe version and I could not have been happier. The deluxe version included polaroids with handwritten lyrics and excuse me for fangirling but in all her photos… she looked so GORGEOUS!

Okay, so enough of the fangirling, moving onto the content. As I mentioned, this album is definitely different. It gives off more of pop and bouncy vibe compared to her old country style. Nonetheless, she did not disappoint. My favourite three songs on the album have to be Blank Space, Clean and for the third place… I’m tossing and turning between This Love and You Are In Love. Actually, who am I kidding, I love the whole album! Approximately just over three weeks since the release date and it’s the album that I can play on repeat again, again and again!

. . . . . . . .

What do you think about Taylor’s new album? And if you don’t listen to Taylor…do you have an artist that you can’t get over?

Much love,
Diemmy

P.S. I am currently listening to 1989 – NP:I Know Places.

Dreaming Out Loud

By: Diemmy

Ello there everyone!
First and foremost I must apologise for my lack of postings and contributions toward mdnblog for the past few weeks. These past three weeks have been the most stressful and craziest moments of my life due to being physically, emotionally and mentally draining from Uni exams and pressure. However, the pressure is now temporarily over, marking the beginning of my big three-month break! As a come back blog post, I would like to share with you something that gives me kick of motivation, and makes me happy from time to time.

When I renovated my room last year, I had an idea of having a bed vanity and by searching through various blogs and websites, I decided to have my own take and this happened to be the outcome.

♥ Dream Letters
As cliché as it sounds, the word dream has a very impactful meaning towards my life. From day to day, whether it is through sleep or consciously, I think about my dreams. It could be a crazy dream from last night’s sleep, or my progression towards my dream in life – my goals.

♥ World Map
The world map is actually a 500-piece puzzle. I have always wanted to challenge myself to complete one of those big puzzles and I finally did it! After all the frustration and effort, including having to cut out the edges of the puzzle since it didn’t fit through the frame, I am really happy with it. However, I must admit I didn’t finish this puzzle myself – I had to make my friends suffer with me as well.

♥ Candles and Fairy Lights
I am a huge fan of candles! I love the way they can simply light up the room and not only that, they smell sensational, adding to that aromatic atmosphere. The fairy lights and the candles add that simple touch to the vanity as a whole!

. . . . . . . .

Do you have something in your room that makes you happy? Something that motivates you from time to time…?

Much love,
Diemmy.

Currently Loving: Hand Cream

By: Michelle

So I was in the Body Shop the other day, purchasing a gift for my cousin, when I stumbled upon this hand cream. I love hand creams and always carry one in my bag. So when I opened the lid, applied, and smelt this bad boy... it was love at first smell. I couldn't stop smelling it!

The hand cream is in the Strawberry flavour and it comes with 30 ml of product. The packaging is very sleek and pleasing to the eyes. It is light so it's very travel friendly. I bring this everywhere I go now. I love the texture of the cream. It's very light weight and does not feel sticky. Once I apply it, my hands feel so soft and smooth.

I definitely want to try out the other flavours, especially the mango! However, it seems to never be in stock when I go to the store. Such a shame... one day I will get my hands on those!

What is your favourite hand cream?

Much love,
Michelle.
